You should bring your own food and drink. Very slowly seating and searving noone around, the food was burned and small portion the salmon. We will never again eat or drink there. The view great that is worth to go there.

Waited ten minutes to be seated (not because there was a queue or because it was busy, just because there was no one around). Spent fifteen minutes waiting to place our order. The starters we had ordered then arrived roughly fifteen minutes later, were cold and not as described on the menu, but unfortunately we didn't have time to complain and have them replaced. We then waited a further half an hour for the mains, after which time we went to ask at the bar where our mains were and we were told there was nothing in the kitchen and our mains had been completely missed. We didn't have time to wait for the rest of our meal and had to insist on our money back, which they would only give us some of. All in all, appalling service.

A visiting friend invited the family to a meal at the Devils Dyke Vintage Inn as a thank you. The restaurant was not very busy. The service was very sloppy. The drinks order was mixed up and the place in general seemed to be run by people who did not know or particularly cared what was going on. The main course came and we requested the sauce tray. When it came,it was revolting, with all the pots dirty with sauces around the outside of the pots. The waiter, if that is what you could call him was oblivious to the situation. The woman who seemed to be senior then dropped cutlery on the floor when going to serve another table and the items were still on the floor when we left, thirty minutes later. Our host went to pay and was faced with a complete blank for at least five minutes and then a farce of the waiter sorting the bill out. If I had been the host, I would have complained about poor, sloppy, uncaring service. The food? No better than overpriced and average.

Having visited several times in the past when needing a lunch time venue i chose the Dyke Tavern, what a mistake, my party and i arrived at mid day opening time, there was no greeting or seating, there was no table service because a member of our party had bought his dog with him, the gentle man taking our order though very nice didn't seem to know or understand completely the computer ordering system and was constantly assisted by an older female staff member who was actually complicating the issue, clearly this is an issue. Our food ordered we settled down to wait, it was a long wait nearly 30 mins, our starters were fine just as ordered and hot. Having all finished we eagerly awaited the next course, we waited for 50 minutes, eventually one of our party went to the bar to enquire how much longer we needed to wait, almost immediately the food arrived at the table the sausage and mash was inedible, the sausages burnt one side but the other barely cooked, the mash was cold. i had chicken burger it was tough dry and thoroughly over cooked my chips were cold, the cobbler stale, my friend managed to eat his but the peas were like bullets, i will never eat here again, it was appalling, one of our party did get a small refund, but by then the mood was ruined.
