I was really upset when I visited this farm with my children in August 2013. It is really expensive to get in. The animals are kept but they are not cared for properly, whether this is due to lack of knowledge or for financial reasons I dont know but this must be dealt with. The first thing you see is a beautiful Maccaw parrot in a tiny cage outside completely bored and unloved. It will never fly, it will never know another parrot. Raystede animal sanctuary houses parrots that have been abused llike this in huge enclosures as they should be. This should be sorted out for the animals sake. Also my daughter was placed on a bucking pony that had not been trained properly, I cannot explain how upset we were about this as she could have been badly injured. Also the pony was obviously distressed and should not have been doing rides for the general public. This was even more upsetting as the lady helping with the ponies then hit the pony 'to teach her a lesson'. It would maybe be better if people were employed who had some training in animal husbandry rather than local teenagers.Of course this would make the profit margins smaller. DO NOT VISIT,

I was really looking forward to my visit but was sadly disappointed. The play areas are good, but there is absolutely no shade at all in the outside play areas which was a real shame. There was a good selection of animals but many of the animals were in pens with lots of excrement and it looked as though they had not been cleaned out in several days. Hardly any of the animals had any shade either which was sad as many looked hot and bothered. The food in the cafe was good but highchairs did not have trays meaning that food went all over the ground- the lady at the table next to us asked two members of staff, one of whom commented that there were no trays due to health and safety issues which we thought bizarre. We won't be back, sadly.

Excellent small animal petting farm with large playground. Plenty to occupy a day out and reasonably priced.

Yep, loved this place - recently moved to East Sussex so have been exploring all the 'go to' places during the summer holidays and have to say this was our favourite. Reasonable admission fee, clean, lots to do, friendly staff and not too packed. The play area is fantastic, you can easily spend over two hours here with a picnic/coffee while the kids round about. The farm is ace too with a large selection of animals, including pony rides (additional cost). Recommend this one.
