We have just had a fabulous activity day organised by Bikes and Hikes. Our group of 8 children (aged 9-15) and 6 adults enjoyed bridge building, tunnel walking and gorge scrambling and we all had a great day. Our guides Rob and Huwell were very entertaining whilst always professional, and kept us all safe and happy. A great family day out.

Ruing a Physical Recreation Programme consisting of 6 different activities Mountain Biking being one, i searched for a local company that could deliver a days Biking in the Brecon Beacons and came across Keith and Arlene owners of Bikes & Hikes. The quality of bikes, service, knowledge and their helpful manner way exceeded that of any other. I highly recommend you try Bikes and Hikes and find out for your self. I for one will continue to use their services. Rob

After a few rainy days walking around the Beacons we decided to hire 2 mountain bikes for the day from Bikes and Hikes. Keith and Arlene the owners could not have been more helpful, the bikes were decent hard-tails with helmets, breakdown kit and route advice provided, Keith even lent us his own map. An excellent, friendly service. We shall be back next year. Steve and Alison Pallant

Wow Have to disagree with David Finch, Have been using Bikes and Hikes for well over a year now for a variety of things including buying products - receiving helpful advice from Keith and Arlene, having my bike serviced, going out on organised rides as a group, having help learning to ride my mountain bike from scratch basically, infact my confidence has grown so much i will be attempting the Brecon Beast next sunday 9 Sep, the hardest bike riding event these parts have seen. So my deepest Thanks go to you both, for all your help and guidance over the last few years !! ( I will be wearing my B & H cycle top with pride next week) !!!!! :-) KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK x

I really would like to say that dealing with Bikes and Hikes was a great experience from start to finish, but I can't. The service was friendly and helpful and the bikes seemed pretty new and well maintained. HOWEVER ... Having rented two MTB's so that we could cycle with the rest of our group; the gear-hanger on one of the bikes snapped on the first gear-change, before we'd even travelled 100m. One of our party had to sit out the ride and went to return the bike. The owner initially tried to charge us for damage to the bike (claiming that it was due to misuse) and refused to refund our rental money. After "discussions with the insurance company" he decided to merely withhold the rental fee on the basis that if we wanted it back we "should sue him". I'd really like to be able to write a positive review; I feel certain that if the bike hadn't broken our experience would have been like the other 3/3 reviews on these pages. But it appears that Bike & Hikes are only fantastic until something goes wrong. At which point it could go very wrong. The previous inspection(s) should have picked up the prior damage to the gear hanger. We were very lucky that it broke so early in our day as the bike had to be physically carried back to the store; if we had been 10km up a mountain trail then it would have been a lot more serious. And I'm not sure that "sue us" is the right attitude to have with customers.
