This has been one of my favourite restaurants for a few years now (used to go to Mama Cali in Hendon Central). Today I walked in and bought just two small portions of ordinary Moi Moi (and I do mean ordinary) which costs me £10 ???!!! Are you serious - for what? its beans, onions and pepper, how can they possibly justify that price? The food has got progressively more expensive over time, but today I was totally disgusted. I think there is scope for a rival restaurant to open up, because their prices have just become unacceptable.

805 is extremely popular because you'd be hard pressed to find another African or Nigerian restaurant with the finesse and decor of this one. Located along Old Kent Road, it has the unusual effect of making people travel 'south of the river' for a Nigerian dish. Famous for the 'Monika' - grilled fish served with plantain and not for the faint hearted - pepper sauce. However, my personal favourite is the sizzling Tiger Prawns. Ask for Efe tell him I sent you.

The Monica Fish is always on point! The fried plantains just complements it.

Food is great, however i have only tried the Monica Fish with Jollof and Plantain, never able to finish it because the portions are so big. Service is great, they are always very attentive, and the Decor is nice. It does get packed on the weekends and evenings but they always try to accommodate everyone.

The menu range is wide and authentic. My very Nigerian father was spoilt for choice. The food was great the portions were massive. The service was perhaps the only sticking point, I get the feeling that my waitress was trying to serve more tables than she could handle, so things were a bit slow in terms of getting food to us, or even getting the bill so we could go. The aircon on the wall is just for show. Many African restaurants get a bad rep, I reckon 805 can claim to be an exception, the bad things weren't too bad, easily rectified. Delicious food, polite service, family friendly atmosphere.
