Had the most beautiful lunch here last week. It had been a while since my boyfriend and I had been anywhere really, really lovely for a meal out so he booked 21212. Stunning dining room and the limited view I had of the upstairs when going up to the ladies confirms that everywhere in this building is just perfect. I also felt really relaxed in here. We were lucky enough to be seated at the first table in the dining room which has a great view of the kitchen, which is part of the room. It is the quietest, calmest kitchen I've ever since. It seemed quite serene in there. I loved the way everyone gathered together to work on something as a team in the middle of the kitchen, sometimes it was for something as simple as the bread platter. The meal itself was divine. One of the options which wasn't on the menu was steak for the main which my boyfriend chose. It was the tenderest steak either of us had tasted. I really don't think I could do the food justice in my review here. Suffice to say by half way through the meal I was already planning my next visit and I'm definitely coming here for my birthday later in the year. Our bill only came to £90 for three courses and a good bottle of red. Well worth it especially when you consider other restaurants in the city would charge the same for an inferior meal.

My husband and I absolutely loved our evening at the 21212 in Edinburgh. The setting is decadently modern, with some traditional twists. The service team was seamless - attentive, friendly and informative. I asked for a list of the cheeses and was presented with a detailed hand-written note by the waiter. The food itself was an alchemy of tastes and textures transformed into a narrative for the tastebuds. Our favourite course was the starter of sea bass and smoked salmon, but it was all delicious. A meal to remember.

A recent birthday dinner here was a wonderful night - food and service truly outstanding. Maybe not to everyone's taste, but nevertheless an astonishing experience to be tried with an open mind. Special mention to the team of staff who were supremely professional yet unfailingly friendly, helpful and relaxed.

Fantastic! The best Michelin experience in Edinburgh. A lovely seeing, bright but intimate, with a view through to the kitchen. The menu is so inventive, and the staff will talk you through each option. What really sets this place above the rest is the incredible presentation of the dishes.

The food is fantastic, it's just a pity that the hostess can't distinguish between a tramp and a South African, dressed for the weather in Edinburgh, not our homeland. A poor, distasteful service, topped with a seat in 'the back', made for a very average experience of which we had only heard rave reviews. "Nice food" when we had wanted a 5 course, we had 2 because of the poor front-of-house, means that we were disappointed at best.
